The Department of Urban Roads in the Ashanti Region has announced the start of emergency repair works on the Kaase Timber Bridge, a key route linking parts of Kumasi’s industrial enclave.
In a public notice issued by the Regional Director, Surv. Na-em Iddrisu, the department said the three-month project will run from 6 December 2025 to 14 March 2026.
According to the statement, the bridge will remain open to traffic throughout the repairs, but only under controlled conditions. Officials said there will be “scheduled partial closure” at phases of the project where major structural components are being installed.
The department has urged motorists to follow traffic management instructions and exercise caution while using the bridge.
It added that the works were necessary and apologised for the inconvenience the project may cause.
The Kaase area hosts several timber, manufacturing and logistics businesses, making the bridge a critical link for both commuters and industrial operators.
The repairs are expected to improve safety and extend the lifespan of the ageing structure.
