“NDC fake websites spread disinformation,” says Zongos Minister

The deputy campaign manager of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has urged Ghanaians to ignore the agenda of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to create a false sense of insecurity through propaganda.

The Minister of Inner-City and Zongo Development said the NDC is “playing on the emotions of Ghanaians for electoral gain”.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday 14 October, the former information minister said, “The NDC has also resorted to spreading of fake news to dent the image of the NPP government.”

Fake websites

He said that the NDC has created fake online portals to mimic credible online news sites while churning out fake news.

“The NDC has generated websites to churn out fake stories to misinform Ghanaians and also cause disaffection for the governing party.

“It was therefore not surprising that leading NDC operatives started referencing [a fake website] as the source for the alleged blacklisting of Ghana by the European Union (EU),” he said.

Fake insecurity

The minister added that despite an NDC agenda to create a false state of insecurity, the peace of Ghana will not be compromised during the 7 December general election.

“As indicated by President Akufo-Addo, efforts have been made by the relevant state security agencies to ensure that the sanctity of the elections is safeguarded. Hence, this election will undoubtedly pass the test and Ghana will again be victorious,” Abdul-Hamid said.

The minister further urged Ghanaians to turn out and vote in the December polls to retain the Akufo-Addo-led government.
