Mahama replies Akufo-Addo: You’ve collapsed many jobs

The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, is accusing the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, of collapsing more jobs than creating them

The Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has accused the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, of collapsing more jobs than he has created.

According to him, the number of jobs created by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is inconsequential to those created by the administration.

“This government has destroyed more jobs than it has created,” Mahama claimed at a campaign gathering at Navrongo in the Upper East Region on Tuesday.

He added: “The only job they can point to is NaBCo, and yet they have destroyed more than 10,000 jobs in the bank sector.”

“All the GN banks used to have staff in them all over the country. Today where are those staff? They are all sitting at home.”

Mahama also described the Akufo-Addo administration as deceptive.

“This is the greatest political ‘sakawa’ that has ever happened. If you vote for a government and it comes into power and the quality of your life is going in reverse then you have to vote the government out. Akufo-Addo government is the greatest sakawa in history,” the former president noted.

In a related development, President Akufo-Addo has lashed out at Mahama, stressing that the Office of the President is not a correctional facility.

According to him, Mahama cannot toy with the highest office of the land, assuming he can return anytime to correct mistakes he made while in office.

“I have heard my main opponent in the December 2020 Presidential race going round and making wild promises to his audience. However, he has refused to talk about the fact that he is not new to the Office of the President because he has occupied the Office before, but he failed Ghanaians and he was booted out,” Akufo-Addo said.

He added: “I have heard him say he made mistakes while he was in office so he wants a new opportunity to correct his mistakes. Can the seat of the Presidency of Ghana be used for trial and error? The Presidency of Ghana is not for trial and error. It is not a place for correcting mistakes. It is a place for working, positive work and positive contribution to the development of our country.”
