John Dumelo loses Ayawaso West Wuogon race

Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has lost his bid to represent the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon in Parliament

Popular movie star, John Dumelo, failed in his bid to win the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for the constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, retained the seat after the close of polls.

Certified results from the Electoral Commission (EC) gave Alhassan 39,851 votes as against Dumelo’s 37,778 votes.

Alhassan won the parliamentary seat back in 2019 in a by-election following the death of her husband Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko, who was the MP at that time.

Other results

The boss of National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Dr Prince Hamid Armah, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the Kwesimintim seat after polling 24,785 of the total votes cast. His main opponent Philip Buckman had 13,409 votes.

In the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency in the Central Region, Cassiel Ato Forson, retained his seat polling over 34, 000 of the total votes cast. His contender from the NPP, Dr Richard Kwasi polled 24,879 of the total votes.

Kwakye Ofosu loses

Felix Kwakye Ofosu of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost the Abura Asebu Kwamankesse seat to the incumbent Elvis Morris Donkor.

“It was so close yet so far for me”, the former Deputy Minister of Communication posted on his Facebook page. “I lost by 176 votes.”

“Congratulations Elvis Morris Donkor and better luck to me next time”, he added. “I am also deeply grateful to all of you out there who supported my bid in diverse ways”, he said.
