Ekow Essilfie, a sportscaster with close to 17 years of experience, has officially joined Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd.
Popularly known as “The Ruler”, Ekow is looking to bring to bear a wealth of experience which has seen him work with the likes of Melody FM, Beach FM, Taadi FM and Empire FM, all in Takoradi in the Western Region.
“I am excited to be part of the Asaase family and the prospects that lie ahead. It’s something that I’ve relished for some time – so an exciting time,” he said.
A proud product of Ghana National College and the University College of Management Studies (UCOMS), Ekow is a multiple-award-winning journalist who has travelled widely, covering both local and international tournaments.
He is aware of the work ahead of him and says he is ready to see it out. “The competition is keen out there, but I am all out for it to ensure that Asaase Sports will be a reference point when it comes to sports in the Greater Accra Region and Ghana,” Ekow said.
Top-notch
Ekow is well remembered for his days at Melody FM, where he formed a highly rated crew with Kofi Asiedu, Manucho MaGhandi, Victor Atsu Tamakloe and a host of others.
His sports show – Ghana’s first ever dedicated sports breakfast show in English – was arguably the most listened-to radio programme in the Western Region.
“I bring top-notch, insightful and very analytical aspects to sports,” he said. “Something that should make you choose Asaase Sports as your go-to when you want to listen to sports – that’s what I bring on board.”
Even though Ekow is largely known to be a sports broadcaster, he is also a top-notch political show host and an excellent all-round newscaster.
The versatile presenter hosts the Team Talk programme on Asaase 99.5 Accra on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm.
Tune in to join Ekow and his panellists as they analyse the top weekend sporting events from across the world.
