WAEC cancels results of over 2000 students over exam malpractices

The provisional results, however, indicate that there were improvements in the performance of candidates in English Language and Mathematics (Core)

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has cancelled subject results of about 2, 383 students for engaging in various forms of examination malpractices.

WAEC said in a statement on Friday, 13 November 2020 that the entire results of 480 candidates have also been cancelled for “bringing mobile phones into the examination hall.”

WAEC added that results of 384 candidates have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various examination malpractice detected during and after the examinations.

Improvements in English and Maths

The provisional results, according to the statement, indicate that there were improvements in the performance of candidates in English Language and Mathematics (Core) in 2020 as compared to 2019.

On the other hand, Integrated Science and Social Studies recorded a decline in the performance of candidates in 2020 as compared to 2019.
