Fise: Four siblings burn to death

Reports suggest the four children were locked up in a room when the incident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday

Four children have burned to death at Fise, near Amasaman, in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. Reports suggest the four children were locked up in a room when the incident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday.

Asaase Radio’s reporter, Philipa Ayilimah Atanga, who visited the scene, said the cause of the fire is yet to be established. Attempts by neighbours to bring the fire under control on Tuesday night were unsuccessful, she said.

The mother of the children, Prophetess Adelaide Nkrumah of the Yaweh Revelation Sabbath Ministry, was said to be attending a prayer session when the incident occurred.

Earlier she had visited the church with the children, but she came back later to drop them off to continue with prayer deep into the night at the church, a neighbour who asked to remain anonymous told Asaase Radio.

The bodies of the children, aged 15, 12, eight and seven, have since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, investigations have commenced to ascertain what led to the fire outbreak.

Heart-breaking precedents

On 4 July this year, three children were burned to death at Apollonia in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region in a suspected arson attack.

The deceased children, two girls and a boy aged five, eight and seven, were burned beyond recognition after the fire swept through their home.

Before that, on 30 January, four other children burned to death at Bonche, a farming community near Portor in the Kintampo Municipality of Bono East.
