Samira Bawumia named among 100 most influential African Women 2023

The compilation aims to spotlight women spearheading impactful initiatives across Africa, serving as inspiring role models for the next generation

The Second Lady Samira Bawumia and founder of the Africa Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) has been named among the 100 Most Influential African Women list for 2023 released by Avance Media.

Chosen for their exceptional contributions to various sectors on the continent, the 2023 publication features 20 business leaders, 24 diplomats, six climate change leaders, 21 leaders in CSO and philanthropy and other notable categories such as governance, media, sports and entertainment.

The compilation aims to spotlight women spearheading impactful initiatives across Africa, serving as inspiring role models for the next generation.

The criteria for selection included: excellence in leadership and performance, personal accomplishments, commitment to sharing knowledge, breaking the status quo and being an accomplished African woman.

The 2023 list also features female presidents and vice presidents such as Sahle-Work Zewde (Ethiopia),  Samia Suluhu Hassan (Tanzania), Mariam Chabi Talata (Benin),  Mutale Nalumango (Zambia) and  Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior (South Sudan).
