EC to rerun Council of State elections in North East and Ashanti Regions 17 February

The EC further stated that it has officially notified the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce, requesting enhanced security at the election venues to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a rerun of the Council of State elections in the North East and Ashanti Regions for Monday (17 February).

In a statement issued on Wednesday (12 February), the EC explained that the decision to rerun the election in the North East Region was due to a tie between two candidates, each securing six votes.

Meanwhile, in the Ashanti Region, the rerun has been necessitated by the chaos that erupted during the counting of ballots, which led to the process being halted before a winner could be declared.

The EC further stated that it has officially notified the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce, requesting enhanced security at the election venues to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process.
