EC destroys flawed ballot papers for Ahafo and Volta Regions

The Electoral Commission (EC) has destroyed defective ballot papers initially prepared for the Ahafo and Volta Regions after uncovering serialisation errors.

The destruction, which took place on Thursday (21 November), was carried out under the watchful eyes of police officers and representatives from political parties.

In a decisive move to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, the EC halted the transfer of the flawed ballots upon discovering the issue.

To ensure a swift resolution, the commission engaged new printing contractors, Buck Press and Acts Commercials, to produce replacement ballot papers.

The EC emphasised that the error was detected by its internal quality control systems, dismissing claims that political parties had flagged the issue.

In a show of transparency, a certificate of disposal was issued, bearing the signatures of all party representatives present during the destruction of the defective materials.
