EBLF champions ethical media practices in mental health coverage

A media orientation workshop aimed at promoting responsible and ethical reporting on mental health and special needs has been held in Accra.

Organised by the Empowering Better Life Foundation (EBLF), the event took place at the foundation’s East Legon office on Friday (28 March).

Under the theme “Breaking the Stigma: Responsible and Ethical Reporting on Mental Health and Special Needs,” media professionals discussed best practices for reporting on these sensitive issues with fairness and accuracy.

In a statement, Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh, founder of EBLF and wife of Ghana’s former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate Matthew Opoku Prempeh, highlighted the importance of inclusive narratives that empower rather than stigmatize.

“This workshop reaffirmed our commitment to fostering inclusive narratives that empower rather than stigmatize,” she said in a post on Facebook.

A wide range of stakeholders, including journalists, mental health advocates, and communication experts, participated in the discussions.

Adade-Prempeh thanked all participants, speakers, and partners for their contributions and urged the media to continue driving positive change through responsible reporting.
