The Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL) has shut down the Densu water plant as a result of flooding in the area, an official statement said on Monday (3 October 2022).
The development will affect the supply of water to customers in Koforidua and nearby communities in the Eastern Region.
“The flooding is as a result of the Densu river breaking its banks at the plant,” the GWCL statement said.
“The management of Ghana Water Company Ltd ( GWCL), Eastern Region, regrets to inform residents in and around Koforidua that due to the flooding of Densu water plant at Densuano, the plant has been shut down, hence the volumes of potable water supplied to the municipality will reduce,” it added.
The GWCL has therefore advised customers to store enough water during the night and odd hours.
