NPP polls: Two Bono Region constituencies barred from voting

The court presided by Gabriel N Kwao Mate-Teye has instructed the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the party to carried out the directive

The high court has restrained the Sunyani East and the Jaman South executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) from taking part in the voting process of the Bono regional elections slated for Sunday (29 May).

The court presided by Gabriel N Kwao Mate-Teye has instructed the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the party to carried out the directive.

However, the party leadership said it is yet to cite the court injunction.

“You see for the first time in the Bono Region election, this committee headed by myself Kwabena Oppong have been very transparent in everything that we do. So, on 29 May the elections will go on,” the chairman of the Bono regional election committee, Kwabena Oppong told Asaase News.

“As I speak to you now, I have not cited anything, heard or read it in any form or shape. So, the elections will go on, none of my committee members have even informed me about this.

“So, every constituency will vote. All the 12 constituencies will vote and that is the emphasis,” Oppong said.
