Dr Stephen Amoah (Sticker) reassigned as deputy finance minister

President Akufo-Addo has reassigned Dr Stephen Amoah (Sticker) as deputy minister for finance minister from his current portfolio of deputy minister for trade and industry.
Dr Amoah’s reassignment was contained in a letter signed by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House and dated 2 April 2024.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reassigned the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Hon. Stephen Amoah, as Deputy Minister for Finance.
“Hon. Stephen Amoah, until his redesignation, was the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, and he takes over from the late Hon. John Kumah, who passed away on 7th March 2024. His appointment takes effect immediately,” the press release from the Presidency read.
“Following the reassignment of Hon. Stephen Amoah as Deputy Minister for Finance, President Akufo-Addo has appointed, subject to parliamentary approval, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, Member of Parliament for Achiase, as Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry.
“President Akufo-Addo is hopeful that Parliament will, once again, on a bi-partisan basis, expedite the approval of his nominee, so he can join the Government forthwith, and assist in the delivery of his mandate for his second term in office” the press release further read.
The Nhyiaeso Constituency lawmaker took office as Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry on 4 April 2023 and his move to the finance ministry comes exactly a year on after assuming office as deputy trade and industry minister.
At the finance ministry, two other changes made by President Akufo-Addo are yet to take full effect due to a hold-up in Parliament. Mrs Abena Osei-Asare, Minister of State-designate, is expected to take up the role from Mohammed Amin Adam who has been appointed as the substantive Finance Minister following Ken Ofori-Atta’s exit from office on Wednesday, 14 February 2024 after serving in the space for 7 years and 2 months.
Dr Alexander Ampaabeng, the NPP 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Juaboso constituency in the Western North Region, has also been appointed as the deputy minister for finance. He comes to the role following the elevation of Abena Osei-Asare from the deputy ministerial position to a minister of state.
