ParalympicsGB congratulates Samson Deen on re-election as President of the African Paralympic Committee

The British Paralympic Association (ParalympicsGB) has formally extended its congratulations to Samson Deen following his re-election as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), praising his dedication, leadership, and long-term vision for the continental movement.

In an official letter jointly signed by David Clarke OBE, Chief Executive of ParalympicsGB, and Dan Brooke, Chair of the organisation, the United Kingdom’s Paralympic governing body described Deen’s re-election as a clear recognition of his “dedication, leadership, and vision for the region.”

The message from ParalympicsGB highlighted the strategic importance of Deen’s continued leadership, noting that his insights and experience will be “important as we explore the opportunities ahead,” particularly as both organisations seek to strengthen their existing partnership.

ParalympicsGB expressed enthusiasm about deepening collaboration with the AfPC and its member nations under Deen’s new mandate. The letter emphasises confidence that, through renewed cooperation, both organisations can work together to “help the region move forward in impactful ways.”

The UK association also extended warm wishes to Samson Deen on behalf of the entire ParalympicsGB family, describing the new term as “the next chapter” in the advancement of para-sports across Africa.

The British Paralympic Association is one of the world’s most successful and influential national Paralympic bodies. Its acknowledgement of Deen’s leadership is widely viewed as a strong vote of confidence not only for him personally, but also for the African Paralympic Committee’s rising global profile.

Samson Deen’s re-election on 9th November 2025, during the AfPC General Assembly in Accra, has attracted commendations from several international bodies, reinforcing Africa’s growing presence in global Paralympic governance.

Samson Deen, a Ghanaian sports administrator and advocate for disability inclusion, first assumed the presidency of the AfPC in 2021. Under his leadership, the Committee has expanded partnerships, strengthened governance reforms, and placed Africa at the forefront of global conversations on inclusivity, athlete development, and sport diplomacy.
