Don’t despair; we’ll make sure your lights stay on – Mahama assures Ghanaians

The President acknowledged the looming threat of power outages due to insufficient fuel supplies for power generation but called on citizens to remain hopeful.

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s determination to tackle the country’s energy challenges and prevent a return to the era of “dumsor” (frequent power outages).

Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana on Thursday (9 January) President Mahama addressed the critical energy challenges confronting the nation and assured Ghanaians of his administration’s proactive approach to resolving them.

“We are assuming office at a critical time in our nation’s history. Ghana is faced with significant challenges. But that is exactly the reason why you elected us,” he said. “We will transparently let you understand what those challenges are, and we will take responsibility for solving them.”

The President acknowledged the looming threat of power outages due to insufficient fuel supplies for power generation but called on citizens to remain hopeful.

“There is a threat of power outages but my brothers and sisters, don’t despair. You elected us to solve the problems, not to put the blame on anybody else,” he assured.

President Mahama revealed that on Wednesday, January 8, he convened a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss innovative solutions for stabilizing the country’s energy supply.

“I can assure you of some of the ideas they have come up with. We will make sure that your lights stay on and that we do not have dumsor,” he said confidently.

He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address the energy crisis and pledged his administration’s commitment to leading the charge for sustainable solutions.
