Ghana Athletics aims to win a medal on global stage in the next four years

Bawa Fuseini says Ghana Athletics is bent on preparing the next generation of athletes who could be at the podium during international competitions

President of Ghana Athletics, Bawah Fuseini, says his outfit has the ambitions of winning a medal at the Olympics or World Athletics Championships in the next four years.

Bawa Fuseini says Ghana Athletics is bent on preparing the next generation of athletes who could be at the podium during international competitions.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Bawa said, “Ghana Athletics in the next couple of years would like to have multiple athletes running sub 10sec in men’s 100m and sub 20 sec in men’s 200m, sub 44sec in men 400m -and getting field event to the level of more than 8m in long jump, 2.2m in high jump beyond 80m javelin.

“Likewise in the women’s events in the same events, 100m, 200m,400 long jump, high jump to the level of them getting medals at continental and global levels,” he added.

“In so doing, we are assured that together with our limited financial resources we can make maximum benefit or impact at the continental and global levels”

“Our intention and vision are to win a global medal either at the Olympics or world championships within the next four years,” he stated.

Ghana Athletics has the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2027 World Championship in Tokyo to get athletes ready to win medals at the 2028 Olympics which will take place in Los Angeles, United States.
