Samuel Pyne, Mayor of Kumasi presided over the commissioning of vital educational projects in the metropolis on Monday (5 February 2024).

The brief ceremony included the unveiling of a six-unit classroom block at Adumanu M/A School, nine-unit institutional sanitation facilities for a Higher Institute of Islamic Studies at Buokrom, and the Obiri Yeboah M/A Primary and Junior High School at Amakom.

The project at the Adumanu M/A School is in its first stage. Funded by DACF/RFG and the World Bank, these projects signify the government’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

Mayor Pyne stressed the importance of good maintenance practices, urging citizens to play their part in preserving public facilities.

“The leadership of this facility must set the examples for periodic and constant maintenance”, the Mayor said adding: “We should be in the position to see it still in good condition. It should not fall in how several institutions in Ghana have gone.”

The event garnered praise from Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Works and Housing and MP for Bantama.

Mr. David Oppong the Metro Director of Education, expressed gratitude for the mayor’s dedication to education, pledging to ensure the proper upkeep of the facilities.
