Ashanti Region: Trial of ‘killer’ policeman begins 13 November

Twumasi, who has been charged for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Victoria Dapaah aka Maadwoa has pleaded not guilty

The High Court in Kumasi will on 13 November start the full trial of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, a policeman accused of killing his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah at Adum in April this year.

During proceedings on Monday (23 October), the court commenced a case management conference, held in-camera, and is expected to call its first prosecution witness at the next sitting.

Twumasi, who has been charged for allegedly murdering Dapaah aka Maadwoa, has pleaded not guilty.

The court will also sit on 14 November in what state prosecutors describe as attempts to have an expeditious trial in the interest of justice.

The prosecution had earlier indicated its readiness to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused person caused the death of the late Dapaah by shooting her multiple times at close range on 20 April, this year.

An autopsy report released by the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has identified six bullet entry wounds and seven exit wounds on the body of the deceased.

The deceased died of hemorrhagic shock due to multiple gunshot injuries. Pathologists described the manner of death as “unnatural”.
