The founder and CEO of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley has urged women in business to prioritise intentional networking as a key strategy for growth and sustainability.
This comes as part of a broader conversation around the topic, “Proven paths to scaling big: Sharing a quick win strategy” from top male CEO’s during the 2025 Women CEO Summit that brought together female entrepreneurs, business leaders, and changemakers.
Speaking at the event, Daniel McKorley stated that while women are naturally meticulous and capable, many face limitations not because of ability but because of limited access to strategic networks.
“Your network is your net worth,” he said. “Many married women struggle with networking due to societal stereotypes, but to scale up, you must choose your spaces carefully and be intentional about your connections.”
He added that in his experience across several businesses, women often outperform men in execution, resourcefulness, and resilience.

McKorley, widely known for his support of women-led initiatives, said that his interest-free loan scheme has so far supported over 3,000 women, many of whom are widows or single mothers. Only one defaulted — and even then, it was due to external family interference.
“Women are the real entrepreneurs in our communities. They multiply whatever you give them,” he said. “But they need training and support structures — not just capital.”
He also highlighted the importance of home support, especially from spouses, in enabling women to scale their businesses.
“If your husband says he loves you, he must be willing to see you grow — maybe even bigger than himself,” he noted. “There must be dialogue at home because your first point of contact for scaling up is your spouse.”
McKorley called on fellow men to move beyond mentorship and become sponsors — using their influence to open doors for women in boardrooms and business opportunities.
“I believe in women. I’ve seen what they can do. From top executives to petty traders around our astroturf projects, they are the engine of the economy,” he said.
His comments were met with applause and affirmations from participants, many of whom called for more gender-inclusive financial education, supportive policy reforms, and representation in leadership across sectors.
