Pregnant woman, four others die in Berekum-Sunyani highway crash

The horrific traffic crash on the Sunyani-Berekum Highway claimed the lives of five people in a taxi cab

A motor crash on the Sunyani-Berekum highway has clamed five lives including a pregnant woman on Monday, officials of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service have confirmed.

The head-on collision involves a taxi cab with registration number GT 5597-12 heading towards Drobo and a Toyota salon car with registration number AS 253-22, which is said to have been driven by the bursar of Nkoranman SHS in the opposite direction.

The five occupants in the taxi cab, including the driver, were said to have died on the spot, while the occupants of the private salon car was said to be in critical condition.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Hospital, while the injured have been rushed to the Sunyani Teaching Hospital for treatment.
