Cudjoe: Government to rank performance of SOEs

The first of the rankings will be launched on Friday, 29 April and published in May to effectively resource non performing companies to deliver

The Ministry of State Enterprises has introduced what it calls the Public Enterprises League table to rank the performance of state entities to make them competitive and profitable.

The first of the rankings will be launched on Friday, 29 April and published in May to effectively resource non-performing companies to deliver.

Speaking at a media briefing in Accra on Wednesday ( 27 April), the Minister of State Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe said the move will help the government to support struggling state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

“For the first time. We are going to rank the performance of the public enterprises. When we rank them, it is expected that those that are doing well will be encouraged to do better and those not doing well will be encouraged to do better.

“And so if you are last in the league table, fortunately, you won’t be relegated, like a typical soccer league table; it means the effort we should make to enable you to perform.”

“When you are at the bottom it, means the effort we should make to enable you to start performing should increase, maybe more training, injection of capital…,” he said.
