Yipala: One person found dead, several homes destroyed after heavy rains

Several people have been rendered homeless while their valuables have also been lost to the havoc

One person has been reported dead in Yipala, a farming community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district of the Savannah Region after a storm hit the community on Tuesday (2 April 2024).

The chief’s palace and locals have all been rendered homeless while their valuables have also been lost to the havoc.

Issah Bayoo, a unit committee member for the area confirmed to Asaase News flying debris hit and killed one person during the downpour.

He indicated that everything in his house has been destroyed.

“My house, my TV set, my mattress; I have lost many of my things. Even my documents in the house have all spoiled”, he added.

Meanwhile, officials from the district NADMO Office, the Member of Parliament for the area, Andrew Dari Chiwitey and other stakeholders have visited the area to access the the level of damage for further actions.
