Ashanti Region: I can pull two million votes to ‘break the 8’, says Alan

The former trade and industry minister says he has a high approval rating in the governing party's stronghold to win more votes at the national polls

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Alan Kyerematen, believes he is the suitable choice to help the elephant family to win the 2024 elections by securing two million votes from the Ashanti Region.

Alan who addressed delegates in the Bosomtwe Constituency on Monday (7 August) as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region said he is the right candidate to ‘break the 8’.

“There is no doubt that the Ashanti Region remains the NPP’s stronghold. The party just needs two million votes to ‘break the eight’. And so, this election is not complicated, and I can assure you that I can make this happen when you vote for me,” he said.

He reminded the delegates to select a presidential candidate who is marketable enough to represent the party in the 2024 general election, stressing that they should listen to the plea of Ghanaians.

Many party stalwarts including past and current appointees joined the former trade minister on the campaign trail.

For his part, campaign spokesperson and former Adentan MP, Yaw Buaben-Asamoah told Asaase News that, “Alan as president is a new era of jobs and incomes… We believe the spirit of the party has settled on him and this is going to play out at the November elections.”

The MP for Tema West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah also expressed confidence that the former trade minister will emerge victorious in the party’s flagbearership race.
