At least five more persons have died of COVID-19 pushing Ghana’s death toll to 725, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced.
The country’s active cases now stand at 6,940 after 449 new coronavirus cases were added to the national tally after laboratory confirmation.
As at 30 August 2021, the GHS reports that the country’s total confirmed cases stands at 120,452 out of which 112,460 have recovered.
So far, 147 persons are in severe condition while 60 remain critical, according to GHS. Cases detected at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are 2,668 with 2,521 recoveries.

Ghana receives 244,800 extra doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine
In total, Ghana has received 422,400 Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccines through the AVAT and other sources.
A representative of the AVAT, Ama Amoah, presented the vaccine to the Chief director of the Ministry of Health, Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, at the Kotoka International Airport, reports the website of the state-owned Daily Graphic.
Oku-Afari said the consignment was the second batch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine Ghana had taken delivery of, after the first consignment of 177,600 doses.
According to him, Ghana was expected to receive 16,918,749 doses of the vaccine under the AVAT, which would be carried out periodically.
