President John Dramani Mahama is expected to receive the final report of the Constitutional Review Committee today, Monday, 22 December, at the Presidency in Accra.
The report, scheduled to be presented at 2:00 p.m., marks the culmination of months of public engagement and technical assessment aimed at reviewing the 1992 Constitution and proposing reforms to enhance Ghana’s democratic governance.
The committee is chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), and was tasked with gathering views from citizens and institutions across the country.
Members of the eight-member committee include retired Supreme Court Justice Sophia Adinyira, Professor Kwame Karikari, former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, Dr. Esi Ansah, and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya.
The committee was inaugurated on January 30 and was initially expected to submit its report by August. However, the deadline was extended by three months due to the volume and complexity of submissions received during nationwide consultations.
