KEEA: Assembly rallies support for flood victims

Over 300 houses were destroyed after a downpour last Sunday rendering locals homeless in the KEEA municipality

The municipal chief executive of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, Solomon Ebo Appiah with the support of the Ghana Army has provided tents to accommodate victims of Saturday’s flood in the area.

The tents which were provided by the 2nd Infantry Battalion based in the Western Region were mounted at Abee, Abayee and Simiw where the disaster was severe.

The communities included Abee, Ntranoa, Simiw, Amissano, Nkontrodo Abina and Dutch Komenda among other communities.

Almost all the affected people including the aged and children were rendered homeless and a number of them were seeking shelter in community centers and classrooms.

Appiah who earlier on presented some relief items including mattresses and food items to the flood victims in their respective locations in KEEA promised to begin processes to put up structures to shelter the flood victims.

He indicated that the president, upon hearing the tragedy, directed the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to provide relief items to them (flood victims) whilst he contacted the military high command to provide them with the tents.
