Chop bar operator found dead in suspected robbery in Volta Region

Dorcas Korkor Tetteh, a mother of three, tragically killed after returning from church—police launch manhunt for culprits

A 54-year-old chop bar operator, Dorcas Korkor Tetteh, has been killed in what appears to be a robbery at her home in Anloga Kportorgboe in the Volta Region.

Her lifeless body, bearing visible marks of violence, was discovered in her room on the morning of Saturday (28 December).

According to family members, the tragic discovery came hours after she had returned from a church service the previous night.

Speaking to Asaase News, a family member, Korbla Ahiabor, recounted the harrowing moment he was alerted to the incident.

“I was home when a family member came to [tell] me that something is happening to my sister. Upon my arrival to her house, my sister was found laying down lifeless. I quickly informed other family members and we reported to the police,” he said.

He added that the scene suggested a break-in, as the metal bars on her windows had been forcibly removed, and both the windows and doors were left wide open.

Police from the Anloga district command swiftly arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.

Dorcas’s body has since been deposited at the Keta Municipal Hospital mortuary, with plans to transfer it to Ho or Accra for further forensic examination.

Dorcas Korkor Tetteh had operated her chop bar for over a decade, using the business to provide for her three children and support her extended family.
