Yaw Tog: I do not do only drill music

Drill is a subgenre of rap music that originated in Chicago streets in the late 2000s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre

Drill music sensation, Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, professionally known as Yaw Tog, has said that his career is not limited to producing drill songs.

Drill is a subgenre of rap music that originated in Chicago streets in the late 2000s. It is sonically similar to the trap music subgenre.

“If you really noticed after I dropped my ‘Time’ EP (extended play), it was like all the songs weren’t like drill,” the young sensation said on Asaase Café 98.5 with Naa Klordey Fritzal Abban on Tuesday (2 August) in Kumasi.

He explained that he wants to be known as a musician who performs variety of genres.

“Ghanaians are trying to box me, but you shouldn’t do that because I have different genres on the EP and different genres on the album too. So, you guys should just watch how the thing goes,” Yaw Tog said.

The ‘Sore’ hitmaker, on the other hand, said he has been behind the scenes for sometime now because of “spiritual attacks.”

“It’s real but everything is okay, we have prayed,” Yaw Tog said. “Yesterday, I was fasting… I just have to fight through; we will fight spiritually and physically.”
