Chaos at Yendi: Party chairman calls for calm within NPP

The youth were raising concerns over the constituency membership list ahead of the polling station and electoral area coordinators' election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman for Yendi constituency Abubakar Siddique has called for calm within the rank and file of the party in the area after some youth went on rampage on Sunday, vandalising the party’s office.

The youth were raising concerns over the constituency membership list ahead of the polling station and electoral area coordinators’ election.

“It is clear, I understand some two gentlemen, who are party members took us to court and in their submission they added Parliament and that is where the youth of Yendi got angry,” Siddique told Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday

“I am shocked and surprised and worried by the action of the regional heads. I believe and I have the confidence that they have connived to destroy the party in Yendi, but over my dead body for someone to do something that will destroy the party,” he said.

“….I want peace for Yendi, I want unity for the party, so justice must prevail, I promise them I am only stopping them to ensure justice is done without any criminal act  to be done…,” he added.
