Three people died on Friday (27 December) when a bus on which they were travelling from Takoradi to Accra fell on its side at the intersection close to the Aggrey Memorial School in Cape Coast.
About 53 people were on board the bus with registration number GW 6231-21 when it fell on its side, trapping some of them.
Nine people were treated and released, while twenty-three others who suffered various injuries are currently receiving medical attention at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
According to Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the accident occurred on Friday, 27 December 2024, at approximately 6:48 a.m.
He said with the collaborative efforts of officers from the GNFS, the police personnel and personnel from the ambulance services, most of the passengers were rescued and taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the University of Cape Coast Hospital for medical care.
He said three of the passengers were unfortunately confirmed dead at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
