Drivers are being warned of a two-month traffic disruption on Cantonments Road, starting from Sunday (26 May) to 29 July 2024 .
The Department of Urban Roads (DUR), under Ghana’s Ministry of Roads and Highways (MoRH), announced the disruption in a press release issued on 24 May, 2024.
The disruption is necessary to facilitate a collaborative project between the DUR, International Hospitals Group Ltd (IHG) and the Ministry of the Interior.
The project aims to improve the drainage system and pedestrian safety on the stretch of Cantonments Road between the Cantonments police station and Danquah Circle.
The release, signed by James Amoo-Gottfried, director of the DUR, urged road users to be patient and follow the guidance of traffic management signs that will be installed throughout the construction period.
“Motorists and all other road users wishing to use Cantonments Road are kindly requested to observe the traffic management signs placed on the road for guidance.”
The statement also stated that the Ghana Police Service‘s Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) will also be present at key points to manage traffic flow.
“The Police MTTD (Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate) will be at the vantage points to guide all motorists.”
