
A joint team of police and fire fighters is to investigate Tuesday’s fire outbreak at the Mankessim Market in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
Fire personnel spent close to five hours battling the blaze which started around 10pm on Tuesday.
Various items belonging to traders worth thousands of Ghana Cedis were destroyed, according to the police.
Three blocks housing about 30 shops were destroyed.
The affected shops deal in herbal products, confectioneries, paint, books and stationery, upholstery materials, electrical appliances, food items among others.
Fire service personnel say they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.
