Lucy Quist on creating a bold new normal

Speaking on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (26 October), she said: "The book was written through observation of what is actually real"

Author and business leader Lucy QuistĀ has said that her book The Bold New Normal is intended to inspire readers to make plans and take actions toward achieving their goals.

Speaking on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (26 October), she said: “The book was written through observation of what is actually real.”

“So, instead of being purely speculative all the narratives are based on things that have happened and me taking a moment to take a step back and really reflect on it,” Quist said. “Our minds say things that are actually feasible, the question is are we willing to make the effort, to bring those ideas to reality?”

“The one thing I want people to remember is that… we really need to shape the way we think. And I know that, the mindset is the fundamental change we need to make.

“But ultimately, our behaviours are actions of what we actually see as possible. If our minds see limitations then they will live with limitations, if our minds see walls, they will live with walls. So, we’ve got to break free and create what is new for us,” she said.

“We face challenges but at each challenge ask yourself; ‘how do I overcome this? And what do I learn from this?’

“As Ghanaians we have an additional responsibility, we need to look beyond ourselves, but empower ourselves and that positive mindset to create that bold new normal,” she said.

Process

According to Quist, going through the process is very important in achieving a bold new normal.

“To get from A to B, there are steps that you take in between. You need to think about where you are today and where you want to get to. You are not going to get there by magic.

“You are going to get there because you are going to take the steps. The process of facing the challenges, overcoming them, getting promoted, making advances, that is your process of maturity, and we need to become more process-minded,” Quist said.
