NPP primaries: Sunyani West parliamentary aspirant Mubarik Abdullah attacked

According to Mubarik, who was on his way to meet delegates, the attack occurred at Kobedi near Chiraa in the Sunyani West District around 2:15 am this morning

One of the aspirants contesting the NPP Sunyani West parliamentary in the Bono Region, Mubarik Abdullah was attacked by some unknown people on his way to Chriaa from Sunyani in the early hours of Saturday (27 January).

According to Mubarik, the attack occurred at Kobedi near Chiraa in the Sunyani West District at around 2.15am.

He said two  laptops, three mobile phones and a substantial amount of money were taken from him.

In an interview with Asaase News, Mubarik Abdullah said the attack has had a negative impact on him and his campaign.

Mubarik who sustained some injuries said the matter had been reported to the police.

Meanwhile, the NPP Parliamentary rimaries are progressing smoothly with about 2,790 delegates voting for 11 aspirants contesting in four out of six constituencies with sitting NPP MPs in the Bono Region.

The aspirants include the Dormaa Central MP, who is also Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah who is the MP for Sunyani West.

The MP for Dormaa East, Paul Twum Berima is the only one going unopposed and will be acclaimed as the candidate on 3 February 2024.

The election in Sunyani East, is however, on hold as a result of a court injunction.

In an interview, Ignatius Baffour Awuah is who is being challenged by Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah and Abdullah Mubarik was hopeful he will be retained.
