Sixty-year-old woman found dead with body parts severed

Daa Yaa’s body was found in a pit latrine near her compound at Kabusu with her tongue, breasts and private parts removed

A woman believed to be in her 60s has been found dead with some body parts severed at Mile 7 in the Biakoye district of the Oti Region.

Residents suspect ritual killing. The deceased, Daa Yaa, left her home on Saturday to attend a funeral in Apesokubi but did not return. After hours of search, Daa Yaa’s body was found in a pit latrine near her compound at Kabusu with her tongue, breasts and private parts removed.

A medical team from Worawora Hospital and the police, with support from residents, recovered the body from the pit latrine but suggested that it be buried immediately due to the advanced state of decomposition.

No suspects have been identified yet. Residents are in a state of fear following the incident and have appealed to the relevant state authorities to open investigations and bring the perpetrators to face the law.
