MTN Ghana dominates market activity with 12 million shares trading

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) market capitalization pared 0.01% to end the day at GHC52.87 billion

Trading activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) commenced this week with six listed equities participating in trading.

The day’s trade ended with a sole loser Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP). After recording a revenue surge of 14.1% year on year to GHC89.67 million for the first nine months of 2020 driven by a 37 % year on year rise in the price of crude palm oil to US$798.12 per MT by September 2020.

BOPP exchanged 4,800 shares as the second most traded equity and lost GHS 0.10 to seal the day at GHS 2.00 per share.

A total of 12,017,673 shares, corresponding to a sales value of GHS 7,338,831.00, were traded on the floor of the exchange. MTN Ghana dominated trading activity with 12,009,100 shares trading at GHS 0.61.

Enterprise Transnational Incorporated (ETI) changed 3,000 shares at GHC 0.07 per share.

GOIL, SOGEGH and SCB were the other three equities that participated in Monday’s trading session.

The broader market index shed 0.33 points (-0.02%) to close at 1,813.46 points, recording a 4-week loss of 2.73%, the index closed the day with its year-to-date yield at -19.66%.

With no financial equities recording price changes, the Financial Stock Index maintained its level at 1,608.59 points and a year-to-date decline of 20.35%

The GSE market capitalization pared 0.01% to end the day at GHC52.87 billion.
