Mahama “rushed” Domelevo’s appointment to “pursue an agenda”, says Akufo-Addo

In a 21-page statement issued on Friday, the Office of the President said Daniel Domelevo was appointed to execute an agenda

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said former president John Mahama had an agenda in appointing Daniel Yaw Domelevo as auditor-general a few days before leaving office.

In a 21-page statement issued on Friday, the Office of the President said Domelevo was never haunted out of office as being raised by the Coalition of Civil Society Organisation Against Corruption.

Reacting to the concerns of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the retirement of Domelevo, the Office of the President said: “The appointment process for Mr Domelevo was rushed through the Council of State, to enable former President Mahama appoint Mr Domelevo before leaving office.

“A reasonable and objective conclusion was that, having lost the mandate to govern, former President Mahama appointed Mr Domelevo to office, knowing very well that President Akufo-Addo would be sworn into office in a few days, to pursue a particular agenda.”
