The association wants MTN Ghana to increase the cash out commission shares to 50% for its members
The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has threatened to offer services at their own rate to mobile phone subscribers, if their concerns are not urgently addressed.
The association wants MTN Ghana to increase the cash out commission shares to 50% for its members.
Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (3 May), the general secretary of the association, Evans Otumfuo said they will protest if their grievances are not addressed in the next seven days.
“MTN Mobile Money Ltd is not treating agents fairly,” he said. “In March 2023, we sent a petition to MTN Mobile money limited with a 14-day ultimatum to address our concerns, but we have been ignored for over a month.”
“We are giving an additional seven days and failure to get a favourable response means that agents are going to offer services at their own rates.
“Consumers should be willing and ready to bear the costs so we can continue to be in business and for the customer to get access to our services,” Otumfuo said.
MTN Ghana is yet to officially respond to the petition.
