Joyce Blessing hosts thanksgiving concert after overcoming the “storm”
The ‘I Swerve it’ hitmaker said the concert is to express gratitude to God after surviving wild rumours about her in the past which almost ended her career
The award-winning gospel artiste Joyce Blessing on Tuesday (15 March) announced her new and upcoming concert dubbed: “After the storm“.
The ‘I Swerve it’ hitmaker said the concert is to express gratitude to God after surviving wild rumours about her in the past which almost ended her career.
“Presently my fans acknowledge me even more than before so it tells me that God is still taking me places. There is nothing left for me to do than to thank him with this concert. So, I want everyone to join me on 8 May 4pm at Kwabenya Victory Bible church to have this thanksgiving concert,” Blessing said on Asaase Radio’s Between Hours show.
“I’m not selling tickets for the concert, you can give offering when you come but it’s not compulsory,” she told the show host Naa Ashorkor.
“It was difficult hearing rumours about myself that didn’t tally with the gospel. I have been through a lot and I want to use this concert to show people how far God has brought me. I know there are a lot of rumours about me but people surprisingly still love me.”
It was rumoured in the past that the gospel act cheated on her husband as DNA test revealed that her first and second children are not her estranged husband Dave Joy’s own.
“Sometimes I go out to test if my fanbase still exists after the rumours came out about me. Right now, I’m very grateful to my fans because even after all the rumours the way they received me at concerts was heart-warming, my fans spurred me in the wake of the heat.”
When host Naa Ashorkor asked why she refused to comment on the rumours, she said that “when God elevates you to a certain level it is not everything you hear about yourself that you have to give respond.”
Music industry
According to her, there’s money in the music industry but as an artiste “you will need money to attract the money the industry has to offer.”
“You can attract that money with a great talent, having good content and branding well with good promotion you can attract the money in the industry. I had investments in the beginning of my career but I also played my part,” Blessing said.
