Ashanti Region: Kinder Kids Montessori connects parents and wards with ‘Hi mama App’

The ‘Hi Mama’ mobile application is an interactive and user-friendly app designed for daycare centres to assist the educators in early childhood learning and development programmes

Kinder Kids Montessori, a preschool in the Ashanti region is employing digital technology to help parents monitor their wards while in school.

The proprietress of the school, Sheila Kumi Boakye speaking at the school’s Christmas show held to mark the end of the academic year bemoaned why most parents are not made to be involved in their kids’ early childhood education, especially after dropping them off in school.

“My concern was, why do I have to write every day when I go to the school? why do I have to write the name of my kids, the date, the time and my name as well? So imagine if you have five kids, you are going to write all five names, so that was a challenge. Also when the kids go to school I don’t see anything until they come back, that is why the school was set up to address all these challenges.”

The ‘Hi Mama’ mobile application is an interactive and user-friendly app designed for daycare centres to assist the educators in early childhood learning and development programmes. The app connects parents with the school and keeps them informed about their children’s daily activities.

According to the proprietress, the application is to ensure that parents are at ease about the safety and well-being of their kids when in school, as they can monitor every activity their kids partake in on their phones.
Some of the parents in an interview with Asaase news expressed their satisfaction with the application, as it enabled them to connect with their wards from the comfort of their homes and offices.

Kumi Boakye added that the centre does not only boast about its inculcation of technology into its management methods but about the school’s extra-curricular activities including ballet intended to improve the children’s development.

“Kinder Kids is the best place for a child to be, especially when the child is below five years because for us it’s not all about education, it’s more about the care as well, and for our weekend school, we have ballet, violin, guitar, piano, we play tennis as well, soccer, we have started public speaking, very soon we will introduce our golf team as well.”
