Ken and Angela Ofori-Atta Foundation hands over six-unit flat to Kyebi Government Hospital

The facility is to ease the accommodation pressure on the government hospital as medical personnel live in temporary structures

The Ken and Angela Ofori-Atta Foundation has handed over a six-unit flat to the Kyebi Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.

Christened the “Osagyefo Doctors’ Flat”, it is expected to address the accommodation need of health workers at the medical facility.

The spokesperson of the foundation, Barima Kwaku Duah, was hopeful that more doctors will now accept posting to the area.

“One of the fundamental requirements in the development of any society is the provision of good healthcare. It is indisputable that the vital component in the provision of quality healthcare is by ensuring that its healthcare personnel are treated properly with respect and dignity in all areas of their livelihood.

“This is a key factor in motivating personnel to give off their best which in turn boosts health delivery and improves healthcare,” he said.

The Ken and Angela Ofori-Atta Foundation has previously provided medical logistics and support to the Kyebi Government Hospital.

Dr Richard Nii Darku Dodoo, the Medical Superintendent of the Kyebi Government Hospital, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the building, saying it will help ease pressure on them to provide accommodation to medical personnel.

“The Kyebi Government Hospital has four medical officers and one dental officer. Two of the medical officers are being housed in a temporary accommodation.

“The dental officer is yet to start work because of housing issues. The hospital has also received an anaesthetist and a pharmacist but all have been put in a temporary accommodation.”
