Continuous public arguments over finances are hurting the Black Stars, according to sports analyst Michael Ocansey.
Ocansey told the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (18 February) that repeated disputes about appearance fees, bonuses and allocations create avoidable pressure on players and officials before competitions.
“Rightly or wrongly, it has an impact. They are human beings,” he said.
He suggested that publishing budgets at a fixed time ahead of tournaments would remove distractions and allow the technical team to concentrate on preparation.
The analyst added that Ghana’s struggles to win major honours since 1982 have intensified scrutiny over spending, especially when poor results follow significant financial outlays.
“If we win trophies, nobody will complain,” he noted. “But when performances are poor and the money looks big, questions will always come.”
He urged authorities to “settle the numbers early and move on.”
