Bryan Acheampong calls for unity as NPP embarks on rebranding mission

A Leading party figure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bryan Acheampong, has emphasised the urgent need for cohesion and maturity as the party seeks to rebuild and reposition itself ahead of future political contests.

In a statement addressed to party members and shared on Tuesday, 11 June, Acheampong said, “Tensions have risen, evident through exchanges on social media. While passionate political discourse is natural, division and hostility only serve to weaken us,” he noted.

Calling for “renewed energy and commitment”, Dr Acheampong urged NPP members—from the grassroots to top-tier leadership—to return to the party’s core values and remember the greater cause that binds them: love for country and a belief in a thriving Ghana.

“What is required of us all, and in particular the leadership of the party, is to ensure that hope is restored – through unity of purpose, maturity in conduct, and discipline in our ranks,” the statement read.

The statement comes at a time when the NPP has faced internal rifts following the party’s presidential primaries and ongoing public debate over its image and direction under new leadership.

Dr Acheampong encouraged party members to rise above factionalism, stressing that the goal is not merely to overcome disagreements but to forge “a new path built on collaboration, courage and credibility”.

“Let us set aside personal differences, engage in constructive discourse, and stay committed to the values that brought us together,” he urged.

As the NPP gears up to rebrand and reconnect with its base, the message from Dr Acheampong serves as a timely reminder that internal solidarity remains key to the party’s strength and relevance in Ghana’s political landscape.
