British Council honours top-performing Ghanaian students

This year’s awards were marked during a significant milestone as British Council celebrates 80 years of its operations in Ghana

Thirty-six top-performing students from Ghanaian schools have received awards from the British Council in honour of their outstanding performance in the Cambridge International exams.

The ceremony took place at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Liberia Road, Accra,
Ghana and was attended by the students, their families, school leaders and teachers from the 95
British Council Partner Schools in the country.

This year’s awards were marked during a significant milestone as British Council celebrates 80
years of its operations in Ghana building connections, understanding and trust. This milestone
reflects British Council’s long-standing commitment to fostering educational excellence and
supporting the aspirations of generations of Ghanaians.

The school director of New Nation School, Alexandra Kpikpi said: “We are overjoyed about the

The regional exams director, British Council, Keshav Sreedharan said: “As an organisation we

honour them and the incredible support system that has guided them to this moment.”

Country director, British Council, Doodo Nii Doodo said: “This year’s awards are special because
as we honour excellence among our top achievers, we are also celebrating a legacy of service to
this country over 80 years. Congratulations to all the top students. Your hard work and diligence cannot be overlooked. Your achievement makes our commitment to creating educational opportunities for young people worthwhile.”

He added: “As we celebrate 80 years of service to Ghana, we draw inspiration from the anniversary theme, which is ‘80 years of building connections, understanding and trust; turning legacies and lessons into innovation and impact’. Our partner schools have been at the centre of everything we do, and this is why on this special occasion we want to celebrate our partnership over the years.”

The British Council Partner Schools community is a network of over 2000 educators across the world, including leaders of forward-thinking schools with an international outlook, and teachers committed to a modern, student-centred approach to teaching.

It is a community that extends beyond the classroom to support parents and carers who want to improve the life chances of their children.

In Ghana, the British Council has partnered with 95 schools, 120 school leaders and 2,500 teachers to bring Cambridge qualifications to young Ghanaians.
