Bono East Region targets 100% COVID-19 vaccination

Some 300,000 more doses of COVID-19 vaccines have arrived in the Bono East Region to revive the vaccination exercise

The Bono East regional director of Public Health Services, Dr Fred Adomako Boateng, has said the government has increased efforts in order to vaccinate about 20 million Ghanaians by the end of the year.

He said 300,000 more doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already arrived in the Bono East Region to revive the vaccination exercise.
Dr Boateng said 30% of the targeted population has already taken the vaccines resulting in an “overwhelming reduction in the COVID-19 infection.”

‘’Currently, the active cases that we are having are three. We have done a lot of interventions to address the issue and enforcing the protocol, which actually yielded response,” Dr Boateng said.

He said so far 140,000 of the region’s population have been vaccinated.

Dr Boateng is therefore appealing to the government to fix the malfunctioning medical stores in Kintampo to store such vaccines.

“What we need as a region is to have a lot of this ultra-negative fridges which is the requirement for us to store a lot of the Moderna vaccines,” he said.
