Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, has sparked conversation after attributing the recent success of the Black Stars not to the technical bench, but to the players’ intrinsic motivation and national pride.
Speaking in an interview, Norgbey stated that the players’ passion to represent Ghana and make the nation proud is what drives their performance, rather than strategic input from the coaching staff.
He argued that despite persistent calls for changes in the technical team, the real engine behind the team’s victories lies in the players’ own willpower and patriotic zeal.
“Let’s be honest—the success we’ve seen recently isn’t due to tactical brilliance. It’s national motivation. The players want to win for Ghana,” he said.
His remarks come as the Black Stars prepare for more crucial fixtures ahead of AFCON 2025 and the World Cup qualifiers, raising debate about the current technical team’s influence versus player-driven momentum.
While some fans agree with Norgbey’s assessment, others have pushed back, insisting that coaching still plays a critical role in modern football success.
