Black Queens squad begins preparations for Japan friendly

Head coach Nora Häuptle's squad assembled in the Ghanaian capital on Tuesday evening and wasted no time getting down to work

The Ghana national women’s football team, the Black Queens, have begun preparations for their upcoming international friendly against Japan.

On Wednesday (3 July), 25 of the 33 called-up players reported for day one of a four-day training camp in Accra.

Head coach Nora Häuptle‘s squad assembled in the Ghanaian capital on Tuesday (2 July) evening and wasted no time getting down to work.

Their first training session took place on Wednesday morning at Union Park, Legon, where they put in a focused hour in preparation for the crucial friendly.

Among those training on Wednesday were experienced players such as Freda Ayisi, Azumah Bugre, Cynthia Konlan, Anastasia Achiaa, Mukarama Abdulai and Comfort Yeboah, among others.

Eight more players are expected to join the training camp in the coming days, strengthening the Black Queens for the challenge ahead.

The international friendly against Japan is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13 July 2024, at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium in Tokyo.
