Bibiani GoldStars have etched their name into Ghanaian football history, securing their maiden Ghana Premier League (GPL) title with a commanding 4-0 victory over relegated Accra Lions on the final day of the 2024/2025 season.
The emphatic win at a packed Duns Park marks a remarkable milestone for the Miners, who earned promotion to the topflight only four seasons ago. Saturday’s triumph crowns a steady rise and a season of consistent performances underpinned by grit and ambition.
Heading into the final round of fixtures, the title race remained wide open. GoldStars, well aware that anything short of a win could cost them the title, took no chances.
Their closest contenders, Nations FC and Asante Kotoko, both faltered on the final day, clearing the path for GoldStars to seal the championship with a victory of their own.
The hosts set the tone early, delighting the home crowd with a fourth-minute opener from Abdul Farouk Amoaful, who calmly slotted home to ignite celebrations. Kelvin Oppong doubled the advantage in the 19th minute, tapping in from a well-delivered cross from the right flank.
Though Accra Lions gradually found rhythm and enjoyed spells of possession, they failed to translate dominance into clear-cut chances, leaving the GoldStars defence largely untroubled.
After the interval, Samuel Atta Kumi extended the lead, effectively putting the contest beyond doubt. Moments later, Frank Amankwah added a fourth to cap off a dominant display and a day of glory for the Bibiani faithful.
The result sparked jubilant scenes at Duns Park as players, fans, and officials celebrated the club’s historic achievement a Ghana Premier League title just four years after ascending from the Division One League.
With this triumph, Bibiani GoldStars become the newest champions of Ghanaian topflight football, marking a significant chapter in the club’s history and setting the stage for continental competition in the upcoming season.
