Bekwai MP marks Eid with constituents, promotes development through unity

The MP was warmly welcomed by members of the Muslim community, who expressed appreciation for his presence at the festival

Thousands of Muslims gathered at Gyamfi’s Park in the Bekwai Constituency on Friday (6 June) to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration, with a notable show of solidarity from their Member of Parliament, Hon. Ralph Poku-Adusei.

The MP was warmly welcomed by members of the Muslim community, who expressed appreciation for his presence at the festival.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant events on the Islamic calendar, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Poku-Adusei thanked the Muslim community for their continued support and prayers.

He highlighted the importance of unity and mutual cooperation as key drivers of development in the Bekwai Constituency.

“Let us continue to work together in peace and harmony, regardless of our faith,” he said. “Your commitment to sacrifice and devotion should continue to guide you in all aspects of life.”

He wished the Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration, and reaffirmed his commitment to serving all constituents with equity and respect.

Community leaders described his participation as a strong gesture of interfaith respect and inclusiveness.

The event, which featured prayers, sermons and communal activities, strengthened the bonds between the Muslim community and their elected representatives.

Eid-ul-Adha is traditionally marked by prayers, the sacrifice of animals, and acts of charity — values which many say are vital in building cohesive and resilient communities.
